June 19 - August 9

"Hit the nail on the head", and read all summer long!  Hard hats, hammers, and measuring tapes are optional.  The blueprint for success is simple.  Stop in the Children's Dept. and join the 2017 Summer Reading Club.  Sign up begins June 19.  Merit stickers and prizes will be awarded all summer long. 

Pre-readers will earn weekly prizes for completing a variety of early literacy activities.  Readers will be given prizes each week as books are recorded in their reading logs.  Each book or 50 pages earns a prize.

Thursday, July 27 - Join Wondergy for a Robotics Program- This interactive journey from simple funny robots to complex (super cute) humanoid robots will explore the STEM concepts that bring robotics to life!  .  Learn in a fun way about sensing and electricity, programming, output/motors and feedback loops.  Children will learn about sensing and electricity, programming, output/motors and feedback loops.  Register in person, by phone 201-337-3742 or online by Clicking Here.

Fellowship Hall of the Ponds Reformed Church

Master Magician Steve Woyce will present his all-new 2017 Summer Show "The Magic of Sharks".  This entertaining and educational show will feature comedy magic, a boat-load fo audience participation, and fun shark facts all rolled into an unforgettable time for the whole family!  Oakland families are invited to attend.  Juice and cookies will be served.  The program in sponsored by the New Friends of the Oakland Public Library, and is free of charge.  Registration begins Tuesday, August 1st.  Register in person, by phone 201-337-3742 or online below:

This is an opportunity for those children entering schools in Oakland to meet their classmates prior to the first day of school.  A special story time and gift-for-teacher craft is planned.  (All kindergartners are asked to bring a wallet-sized photo of themselves for their teacher craft.
