Rovers and Rockers by Artist Robert Berner
Artist Reception - Sunday, March 3 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Rob Berner's exhibit highlights some of the artist's favorite musicians along with a variety of pet portraits. Berner has always loved music from the 1970's and his drawings are inspired by the musicians, their music, and their clothing. "I was able to express myself through my drawings and live, in a way, vicariously through them!". Berner began drawing pet portraits just over a year ago. An animal lover, he says he tries to imagine what the pet's personality is like. He enjoys creating something for his clients that will immortalize their animals.". Berner lives in Rockland County, NY with his wife, their four dogs and two cats.

Please stop by the library and visit the exhibit, located on the stage on the Western side of the Reading Room.

linda poster

In early childhood, Linda had a keen interest in art, drawing, nature and animals. Self-taught, she spent many of those years honing her artistic abilities. Working in a vast array of mediums, Linda earned numerous “best in show” awards and has exhibited her work in many venues. When Linda started a family, she needed to devote all her time to raising her four children; only occasionally picking up her brushes; but never seemed to have enough time to devote seriously to her passion. Now that her children are grown and with a renewed fervor, Linda has decided to redirect her focus on her art once again. “It is something that has been calling to me continually, as long as I can remember.”

Today Linda is working mainly in oil; she uses the canvas to interpret the beauty of country life, pastoral landscapes and rustic buildings. “I’ve always loved working in oil – I love the smell of it; the brilliance of the color. Sometimes it can be a struggle. Sometimes it comes together and that’s marvelous. The whole process is wonderful and a release from daily stresses…I can’t resist it, it renews me, it’s part of my life,” she says. “I enjoy painting the vanishing landscapes: buildings, barns and relics that are left behind by those who lived a life before in harmony with nature, in hopes that they become timeless for both this generation and the next. I feel a spiritual kinship to these past artifacts and monuments of time. I am drawn by the serenity of rural life and historical architecture that is slowly being replaced by highways, malls and condo’s. Things tend to strike me in their simplicity; I love the simplicity of the country landscapes that I paint. I am very intrigued in the beauty and the solitude if country life,” says Linda.

Since redevoting herself to her art, Linda paints in her studio in Pompton Lakes, NJ. She is currently a full-time artist and accepts commissioned work for landscapes, pet portraits, and private art lessons from ages 7 to adult for one student or group lessons. Linda art is exhibited throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Her work is in many private collections throughout the U.S. “Outside of my family, painting is my true love." Linda is currently an active, contributing member of The National Trust for Historic Preservation, Artsbridge of NJ and The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, Mass.
